Eischen’s Bar

Eischen’s Bar

I was finally let in on an Oklahoma secret yesterday - Eischen’s Bar in Okarche.

It was my first time to make the 30-45 min drive from the metro, but it was well worth it. A few of us went out after work and ordered the famous fried chicken and a couple sides of fried okra. They only have a couple items on the menu, so it isn’t hard to make a decision about what to order.

Supposedly its the oldest bar in Oklahoma - opening in something like 1896. The chicken was brought to the table in paper baskets and they give everyone a handful of waxpaper instead of plates. A couple of us also brought in plastic forks because apparently there is a silverware shortage in Okarche, or at least at Eischen’s.

Make sure and bring cash or check because they don’t accept credit/debit cards.

If you have never experienced Eichen’s, it is a must.

I love this place! The wait is usually long but grab a beer and socialize! Make sure you have a sober driver for that hike back home!

You took forks into Eichen’s?!! You completely missed the point of the place. The old part refers to the actual bar itself. The original bar that burned in the fire was brought from Spain. It was actually made in the 1700s, if I remember correctly. Use your hands next time.
